‘Bon Voyage’ to me September 15, 2008

Heyyy

It’s time to say goodbye…well goodbye for now at least…

I got the most exciting news today…to go to a two week course in Cambodia at Angkor Wat…i applied ages and ages ago…but i really didn’t think i would get in! I applied when my South East Asian archaeology teacher suggested i do it and apparently my enthusiasm just won the application committee over…yay! We’ll be studying the Buddhist/Hindu temple there and i would really like to pursue more work there when i finish uni.

I’ll be missing two weeks of uni which isn’t great but you’re allowed to miss two of each class and i haven’t missed any yet…but that’s the reason i won’t be blogging for a while. The school is in four weeks…but i will have to do all the assessments that are due in those two weeks before then…ahhh! So i am going to be extremely busy.

It’s going to be such a great experience but it’s a bit scary going somewhere where there are so many unexploded mines…but i guess that’s all part of the adventure and I’m tough *cough*. I should probably learn to drive a motorbike before i go too because that is all they ever drive over there haha!

I’m going to be soooo broke after this though…which is a problem considering i have the trip to Vietnam lined up for the summer semester break with Bec and Adele from uni…i may have done whats right in quitting the body shop…but I’m going to have to do some serious mooching off my parents to afford these trips!

I’m so over the moon. I’ll be back (well if i don’t get blown up by a mine haha…which i won’t)!

I’ll have lots more interesting stories to tell you and what can i say travel is what i love

Peace and farewell,

Willow xx

Another beautiful day September 15, 2008

Hey Heyyy

I love spring!!!! Love love love it. It’s amazing how much the weather affects how you feel. I know i’ve just quit my job and i have a whole lot of uni work to do but i just feel so carefree like a butterfly flitting about in the breeze. In honour of this gorgeous weather (which my fledgling herb garden is also loving) i painted my nails and toenails…they look appropriately hippy.

I know Caleb will be super happy about the arrival of spring he is (suprisingly considering he works in IT *shudder*) such a ‘nature lover’, ‘outdoorsy’ kind of guy…did you know its our one year anniversary on Saturday i’m so excited. That’s such a long time…well for a young person such as myself haha. He’s good for me. Very good. I love him :-D I hope the weather stays like it is…i would love to go on a picnic with him

Well i know i will appreciate the sunshine and warmth while it lasts and so should you. Go outdoors or at least take time to stare out the window…and smell the roses as it were. I think its the worst thing you can do to is to just get so caught up in being ‘busy’ that you forget that life and the world around you are beautiful.  Because they truly are.

Peace,

Willow xx

‘One day’ has arrived… September 14, 2008

Heyyy

You know how i said i would write a poem on the quad one day…that day is here sooner than expected…in a very balmy spring (oh yay spring) but unfortunately sleepless night last night i was inspired…

Hope you feel it

“Towering spires,

Of sandstone and scholarship

Cloisters of students, clusters of friends

Green ivy whispers,

When stirred by a cool zephyr

Blossoms of purple, falling like rain

Soft carpet of grass,

Beneath an azure blue sky

Silence and stillness, chaos and rush

Piles of books sitting,

Beside brightly coloured bags

Students in study, sunshine and rain

Towering spires,

Of sandstone and scholarship

Arches of learning crafted through time.”

Peace,

Willow xx

Hey heyyy

So anyway guess who resigned from their job today…i was hoping (as you know) that it wouldn’t come to this but we knew if it came down to it i was always going to choose whats in my heart not my head. My manager confronted me about the fact that i hadn’t sold anything from the new product range and asked whether i had told customers it was tested on animals. And i told her the truth…which was no…i am just such a good anti-sales woman haha!

It’s sad that it had to end this way but it’s probably for the best…i just felt guilty every time i walked in there. I hope other people stand up and take action, but uncharacteristically pessimistic of me, i am doubtful.  I’ll be working my last shifts through the week then next weekend…how sad, i’ve been there a long time (well a long time for a young person!)

I just hope i made a difference. But i stayed true to myself and if that’s all i have then that’s enough…

You can’t put a price on whats right.

Peace,

Willow xx

My Favourite Place September 12, 2008

Filed under: Thoughts... — willowsworld @ 5:17 pm

Heyyy

So anyway i was sitting in the quad this afternoon, basking in the warm sunlight and enjoying the spring breeze…that’s right people spring is finally upon us…no more winter!!! And i thought…i love it here.

Yes, i love the quad at my uni. Maybe because its old…you know i love anything old. I don’t know, normally i don’t like being enclosed by four walls but i just find this sense of peace there. I love to feel the sandstone run under my hand, smell the bell shaped purple jacaranda flowers, sit by the ivy, feel the perfectly manicured grass beneath my feet. I love seeing the student milling around waiting for their next class or simply basking in that afore mentioned good good sunshine…and knowing I’m part of this community and that everyone is accepted here. I love that I’m almost in the middle of the city but it feels a million miles away. Most of all i love that its where i found my amazing uni friends…

I shall write a poem on it one day…

But i have taken many a photo of it

Find that place which brings you peace,

Willow xx
